September Forecast

The astrology of September is sure to be eye-opening, especially as Mercury stations retrograde for the majority of the month. While September unfolds, you may notice a slight shift in the cosmic weather. Although there aren’t any eclipses or once-in-a-lifetime astrological happenings, there will be plenty of opportunities to reconsider whatever Mercury retrograde brings to light. By mid-September, summer will be officially over as the fall equinox transitions us into the second half of 2022 on September 22.

Major Transits

Beginning on September 5, Venus will leave sunny Leo for its fall, Virgo. Traditionally speaking, Venus is considered weakened when it is in Virgo. However, the traditional debilitation of Venus in Virgo does not mean that Venus in Virgo is doomed for failure (at least, not on Virgo’s watch). So, there are opportunities to work with both the light and shadow attributes of Venus in Virgo. Since Venus is reporting to Mercury, there is a flighty yet intellectual undertone. Sharp and detail-focused, Mercury-ruled Venus is incredibly educated. Communication will be important!

Subtle yet anything but understated, Venus in Virgo radiates a clean beauty. The purity of the Virgin is remarkably enlightened through the expression of Venus. Pure, wholesome, and even chaste, Venus in Virgo is the very definition of the “clean girl aesthetic“. Adapting to Venus in Virgo requires starting with the basics. The definition of beauty begins with self-care during this Venusian transit. Drinking plenty of water, eating non-inflammatory foods, and getting enough rest are simple yet effective ways to achieve a clean slate for beauty. Since Venus in Virgo is simple yet perfectionistic, work on your skincare during this transit. Wearing sunscreen, using well-made products, and maintaining your daily skincare regime are excellent ways to step into the “clean girl aesthetic”. Ideally, Venus in Virgo is the no-make-up, make-up look. Lightly tinted moisturizers and a swipe of mascara will do for this type of Venusian energy. Venus in Virgo’s style mantra is “less is more”. This mantra applies to decorations, style, and clothing. Venus in Virgo should look for simple silhouettes and structures, preferably made of organic materials. A neutral color palette will do as beige, white, greys, and tans are excellent colors to incorporate. Pops of green are recommended! Clothing-wise, Venus in Virgo is impartial to a semi-modest look. The stitching and the quality of whatever you wear are important. Name brands do not matter so much. Beauty is a “quality over quantity” mindset. Clothing should be carefully chosen as each piece should match Venus in Virgo’s idea of perfection. Decoration-wise, Venus in Virgo may have you picking up a house plant or two to bring life into your sacred spaces! Cotten sheets, light colors, and plenty of natural lighting are preferable. The potential downfall is the critical energy of Venus in Virgo. While an outsider may compliment your look or space for its perfection, you may only see the issues with it. It is important to know when to take a step back and be happy with the final product.

With love in mind, Venus in Virgo tries not to settle for less. Venus in Virgo is known to have a laundry list of do’s and don’t’s for romantic relationships. There is a rational, intellectual quality to Venus in Virgo as this planet is reporting to Mercury. So, rhyme and reason are necessary for the game of love. Venus in Virgo is not shy about being critical or judgmental when seeking romance. Venus in Virgo is where we may notice little details during our dates or with our partners. Are their fingernails clean? Does their breath smell? Is their laugh annoying? Do they wear decent clothing? Does their outfit match? Do they remember small details about us? Every little thing is scrutinized in love – which is a pro and con. The pro is that Venus in Virgo has high standards for what it needs in a partner and relationship. High standards can help Venus in Virgo make quick, logical decisions about who will make the cut. However, the con is that Venus in Virgo may become overly critical about relationships. Love should be fun, whimsical, and enjoyable. But Venus in Virgo tends to be pessimistic. It might be challenging to enjoy a first date if the way they laugh is utterly nauseating. It could be dissuading to see a partner because all of their icks are just too apparent. We need a balance between sticking to our expectations versus being too nit-picky. People are not perfect, not even in love. So, you may need to figure out what you are willing to compromise to be happy in love. But being just critical enough can save you from entering unhealthy relationship dynamics. Although Venus in Virgo can find every fault in a person, this may also be the very thing that draws Venus in Virgo in. Sometimes, Venus in Virgo abandons all rules, standards, and expectations for the seemingly perfect fixer-upper who has so much potential. But this may lead to a lack of boundaries and even martyrdom, especially if Venus in Virgo gives so much to make this fixer-upper the best partner they can be. Boundaries, which are the extension of an expectation for a relationship and person, are important to maintain.

Money matters are also overdue for evaluation. Nothing escapes the detail-focused Venus in Virgo. Expect to be financially hyper-vigilant as Venus in Virgo will readily check the bank accounts, transactions, and any other pertinent details for a financial commitment regularly. The opportunity to become financially adept is possible since curious Venus in Virgo is impartial to being fiscally savvy and educated. Speaking with other financial advisors and doing research on potential investments is recommended. Adjusting and editing the budget is doable so that we can work toward long-term goals. However, the vigilant nature of Venus in Virgo can be mentally stressful to endure. Venus in Virgo may go down a rabbit hole of analyzing its finances, budgets, investments, debts, and more. Although it is great to be on top of your finances, Venus in Virgo can take this and run with it. It might be challenging to walk away from financial analysis paralysis. Critiquing yourself for your debt or expenses will not help either as this make add to your stress. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Keep this in mind if you feel overly judgmental if your financial success or progress is not taking off as expected.

Four days later, Mercury will station retrograde in Libra. Retrogrades are a time to rethink, review, and then revise. Since this is a Mercury retrograde, there may be notable themes of communication, technology, and travel coming to light. However, Mercury retrograde marks a time where this is often clarity through miscommunication, the desire to gain closure from striking up a conversation, technological mishaps, and travel issues. How we think, strategize, and problem-solve is subject to change during Mercury retrograde since this will allow us to work on our Mercurial skills under pressure. Mercury retrograde begins in Libra, suggesting that commitments, equality, justice, relationships, and balance are in view. Since Mercury retrograde is reporting to Venus, the classic saying, “Mercury Rx brings back the ex” may be relevant. Old flings, lovers, exes, and more could come back to clear the air. Mercury retrograde may bring us to them or them to us. It might be physical, such as getting an unexpected text or call. It could also be emotional, suggesting that we may see our exes in our dreams or have them on our minds. If old relationships are popping up, you should think about why they are suddenly relevant again. Do you need closure? Is there something worth addressing? Or are you hoping to revitalize the relationship once again? Mercury retrograde could also allude to the lack of reciprocity and fairness in our ongoing commitments. Issues at work or with friends are subject to arise as Mercury retrograde could bring it up through miscommunication. A tidbit of drama may get back to you, or you could receive a text that was not intended for you. Freudian slips as well as confessions may also be telling of what relationships are overdue for a change of pace. Mercury retrograde could infer that some commitments aren’t worth maintaining, especially if it’s apparent that there will never be any equality or harmony that could come from the arrangement. Seeking genuine peace is recommended, but this may only be possible if we use Mercury retrograde to address any frustrations or stressors that allude to a guise of serenity. Since commitments are a prevalent theme at the beginning of Mercury retrograde in Libra, you may want to hold off from agreeing to anything new. Put off signing contracts, taking on additional responsibilities, or even starting something with a partner for the time being.

Shortly after, the full moon in Pisces will occur on September 10. Full moons mark the culmination of a six-month cycle, suggesting that something is coming to an end, to head, or to fruition. Typically, this lunar phase is better for reflection and reception than manifestation. As this full moon glows in mystical Pisces, there is a remarkable spiritual undertone. Mystical Pisces gives this full moon a mutable, watery essence. Swimming between both the physical world and spiritual plane is possible as this full moon works with our third eye and crown chakra. Do not be surprised if you feel ungrounded during the full moon since it may encourage a dreamy vibe. However, try not to dissociate during the full moon either. Finding balance is possible since celestial Pisces can have us be in touch with all dimensions of reality. Since Pisces rules over escapism, spirituality, asylums, self-undoing, and shadow-dancing, we may see these themes come up. We might be reminded of our morality during this full moon as it could address what matters the most to us and how can we can be in touch with our spiritual side. How we handle our problems and what we do to cope could come to mind. Some of us may need to let go of unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as drugs or alcohol, to avoid running away from our problems. Self-undoing and shadow-dancing may be prevalent as we learn to love all sides of ourselves. Absolution is notable as the full moon encourages complete acceptance of who we are and aren’t.

Get lost in the sauce! Well, not really, but try to “get lost” in the full moon energy. Pisces energy airs on the side of absolution, suggesting that everything is within and without. Since it can be gentle yet all-consuming magic, the full moon encourages us to fully let go by getting lost. Escapism is a fantastic foundation for this full moon ritual. The question is, what do you want to get lost in? Pisces is magical, so you may find yourself putting together a bathtime ritual full of herbs, oils, and salt. Pulling cards, using a pendulum, or meditating to connect with your guides to reflect are recommended. You could also lose yourself in the vibration of art. Pisces is notably creative, so you could use music, singing, intuitive dancing, painting, and drawing to encapsulate the full moon vibe.

The full moon in Pisces will form two sextiles to Uranus retrograde in Taurus and the North Node in Taurus. The subtle energy of the regressing wild child encourages the lunation to feel more comfortable with the ebb and flow of life. Watching a chapter or cycle come to a close is an emotional process, especially if the moon is in a sensitive water sign like Pisces. But the presence of Uranus retrograde reminds us that not every ending is the end-all, be-all. Subtle yet innovative shifts into a new direction are possible, but not without letting go of whatever had us locked down in the old cycle. We may even be surprised with how easy it can be to detach as the full moon-Uranus retrograde sextile is ready to move forward. Intuitive cues may pop up suddenly and unexpectedly, perhaps even tangibly, as the sextile to Uranus retrograde may lead to impressive breakthroughs. Since the lunar node of fate and destiny is also present, we may feel an intuitive shift toward something that is meant to be. The ending of a cycle may not have happened any other way, or what came out of the cycle was destined to come to light. Moving forward from this cycle in a certain way is also fated. Consider checking the House that’s in Pisces and the House that’s in Taurus to see what kind of fated detachment is occurring.

The Rising signs can expect a cycle to come to a close in these Houses:

  • Aries Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
  • Taurus Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, & Humanity
  • Gemini Rising: 10th House of Career, Legacy, Recognition, & Public Status
  • Cancer Rising: 9th House of Long-Term Travel, Higher Education, Spirituality, Law, Ethics, Morals, & Beliefs
  • Leo Rising: 8th House of Merging, Joint Assets/Finances, Marriages/Divorces (Intimacy), Taboo, Occult, & Psychology
  • Virgo Rising: 7th House of Contracts, Commitments, & Partners (of all kinds)
  • Libra Rising: 6th House of Work, Daily Grind, Routine, Healthy Habits/Practices, & Small Pets
  • Scorpio Rising: 5th House of Joy, Fun, Hobbies, Past-Times, Pregnancy/Children, Dating/Romance, & Drama
  • Sagittarius Rising: 4th House of Home, Family, Heritage, & Sacred Spaces
  • Capricorn Rising: 3rd House of Neighborhood, Local Community, Local/Short-Distance Travel, Communication, & Siblings
  • Aquarius Rising: 2nd House of Personal Finances, Financial Security, Material Items, Personal Property, & Values
  • Pisces Rising: 1st House of the Self, Physical Body, Appearance & Perception

There’s a bit of a lull after the full moon, but the sun will eventually ingress into Libra on September 22. Now reporting to Venus, the sun is officially fall in Libra. Fall indicates that the sun is operating weakly in Libra, so there may be a significant difficulty in self-expression, vitality, and ambition. Since the sun in Libra is focused on commitments and relationships, we may seek a like-minded partner who acts as our “other half” during this zodiacal season. Doing an activity or sharing a goal with someone is more exciting than being alone, which may explain why the sun is fall as it prefers to be with someone during Libra season. Luckily, love will be on everyone’s mind since being with others is a top priority! Our lives may become more harmonious, especially if our commitments and relationships bring in serenity. However, it is important to maintain some sort of autonomy to avoid becoming codependent on others to bring beauty into our lives.

Then Mercury retrograde enters Virgo a day later. The second half of Mercury retrograde is here, indicating that this will be over soon! Mercury is domicile and exalted in Virgo, suggesting that this might be a bit smoother even during retrograde. Now that we have had time to mull over what commitments bring us peace and equality, Mercury retrograde in Virgo has the opportunity to refine such breakthroughs. Service, boundaries, health, habits, schedules, and routines are in view now. Mercury retrograde may allude to a lack of boundaries in your relationships or with other areas of your life where you give too much only to receive too little in return. Martyrdom could also be a prevalent theme for those who have no boundaries. How we serve others and ourselves may come up in conversation. Take note of how much emotional labor you do when you speak with others. Think about if others remember small details or comments that you have made. Mercury retrograde will show you who is listening and who isn’t. Since Mercury retrograde takes a hit on schedules and routines, there might be extra stress in your usual activities! You may double book yourself, overlap, go over time, or forget about some of your commitments. As a result, Mercury retrograde may encourage you to see these issues as an opportunity to revise your habits for your mental and physical well-being. Since this might be a more critical transit, you should try to be kind to yourself when something does not work out as intended or planned.

A few days later, a new cycle begins under the new moon in Libra on September 25. As a new cycle begins, we may see themes from this new moon echo for six months. So, this is an excellent time to manifest, set intentions, or define your goals since this new moon can help us capitalize on our requests. As this is occurring in Libra, we may see themes like partners, relationships, commitments/contracts, balance, and fairness come to light during this cycle. If you are hoping to manifest a new business or romantic opportunity to work with someone who will meet you at 50/50, then this new moon is the perfect time to manifest such. However, if you are hoping to invite new arrangements and partners into your life, then you need to be explicit. Account for all the aspects, traits, and possibilities that should or should not be included in such an arrangement. If you seek peace over the next six months, then think about what you can do to instill harmony in your life. Do you need to address any issues that hold you back from your peace? Do you need to let go of anything that no longer serves you? Figure out what you need to focus on to live a balanced lifestyle. Aside from this, beauty may also come up. The new moon in Libra can assist with aesthetics, which may become more relevant as you figure out your style over the next six months. But since this is a partner-focused lunation, you may want to refer to influencers and trends to figure out what you like. However, the new moon warns us to avoid codependency, relationships that lack reciprocity, and acting passive-aggressive!

Since balance will be a prominent theme during this lunar cycle, you may want to consider honoring the new moon through yin yoga, tai chi, slow-paced pilates, and even walking meditation. Libra is a masculine sign, so it does have active assertive energy. But the new moon encourages us to be equalized in all facets. Focusing the masculine energy of the lunation into a concentrated yet gentle physical expression is an excellent way to harness the lunar power.

The new moon will only make one prominent aspect, which is an opposition to Jupiter retrograde in Aries. All trailblazing is halted for the time being as Jupiter retrograde considers experiences and truths before continuing its exploration. Expansion is not necessarily possible or easy at this time. But the opposition to the new moon does put what we want to capitalize on into perspective. If Aries is the sign of “me”, then Libra is the sign of “we”. The opposition suggests that the new cycle is going to be this balancing act of shared commitments versus personal journeys. Yes, it’s crucial to find like-minded partners, relationships, and groups that can assist with developing individualistic pursuits. But we need to figure out where the line is drawn. How much are you willing to share with others or leave for yourself? What can you learn from your arrangements and working with others? How can someone else assist with your journey without taking it over? Keep these questions in mind as the opposition unfolds with the new moon over the next six months.

The Rising signs will experience a new cycle unfolding in these Houses:

  • Aries Rising: 7th House of Contracts, Commitments, Partners (of all kinds)
  • Taurus Rising: 6th House of Work, Daily Grind, Routine, Healthy Habits/Practices, Pets
  • Gemini Rising: 5th House of Joy, Fun, Hobbies, Past-Times, Pregnancy/Children, Dating/Romance, Drama
  • Cancer Rising: 4th House of Home, Family, Heritage, Mother/Mother-Figure
  • Leo Rising: 3rd House of Neighborhood, Local Community, Local/Short-Distance Travel, Communication, & Siblings
  • Virgo Rising: 2nd House of Personal Finances, Financial Security, Material Items, Personal Property, Values
  • Libra Rising: 1st House of the Self & Perception
  • Scorpio Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
  • Sagittarius Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, Humanity
  • Capricorn Rising: 10th House of Career, Legacy, Recognition, Public Status
  • Aquarius Rising: 9th House of Long-Term Travel, Higher Education, Spirituality, Law, Ethics, Morals, Beliefs
  • Pisces Rising: 8th House of Merging, Joint Assets/Finances, Marriages/Divorces, Taboo, Occult, Psychology, Sexual Bonds

Finally, the month ends on a high note as Venus enters its domicile, Libra, on September 29. Strengthened once again, Venus in Libra is considered to be auspicious as Venus rules over Libra. Although domicile is considered to be an ideal traditional placement, there are still pros and cons to consider with this transit.

The glamour of Venus in Libra is incomparable! Venus in Libra is a beauty like no other because it borrows from several styles, aesthetics, eras, and more to create a breathtaking yet balanced signature look. Venus in Libra may look recognizable, as you may notice people wearing trending clothing, colors, and cuts. However, how you accessorize it or make it your own is what makes the beauty of Venus in Libra likable yet distinct. So, this is the perfect time to lean into trends, buy popular clothing, wear well-known brands, and more. Venus in Libra likes to connect through fashion and style, so aim for talking pieces that draw others in. Aside from this, the skincare regime that was lovingly defined during Venus in Virgo may carry over into Venus in Libra as Libra rules over the skin. It’s the perfect time to focus on bringing balance to your look, starting with complexion. Whatever you wear can make you undeniably attractive if your aesthetic is harmonious. How one stylizes themself is subjective, so the balance of that look is also subjective. Venus in Libra may infer that balance is neutral tones, slimming clothes, and a genuinely feminine style. Venus in Libra can also be completely eclectic as long as each aspect is carefully chosen to make a complete look. No matter what, the true Venus in Libra style is well-manicured. Polished and groomed, Venus in Libra’s beauty often gives off a pretty but likable taste.

Since Libra is the sign of “we”, this is a commitment-focused transit. Venus in Libra is primarily concerned with forming partnerships. As long as the relationship is fair and loving, Venus in Libra is happy. Harmony is a must as Venus in Libra needs to be in a peaceful relationship. Ideally, the partner would never intentionally start a fight or strike up unnecessary issues as this is a surefire way to drive off Venus in Libra’s peaceful love. A romantic relationship would need to be equal in every way, balanced, and calm. However, Venus in Libra needs to know that conflict can be useful as it can dissuade from being codependent and overly eager to please for the sake of maintaining the peace in the relationship. Venus in Libra may benefit from addressing any issues to ensure that the relationship is genuinely fair. For singles, this might be the perfect time to be a bit more honest about who you are and what you want in a relationship. Venus in Libra could encourage singles to be a bit more forthright in love to find their perfect partner. Be yourself if you’re dating! Finding a truly reciprocal relationship will only happen if you are honest about who you are, what you bring to the table, and what you are looking for in love. For couples, Venus in Libra is the perfect time to level the playing field. Couples can figure out what makes their relationship feel like an equal exchange. What does one person have that the other lacks, and vice versa? Venus in Libra encourages couples to see one another as their missing parts or their perfect other half. It might even be a great time to mull over the pros and cons of each joint agreement. Some couples may find themselves poring over the right time to get married or where to live during this Venusian transit! However, while it might be easy to fall in love, commitment is another ball game. Venus in Libra is usually indecisive, so it might be challenging to officially seal the deal!

Are you ready to balance the books? Venus in Libra is focused on ensuring that money matters are just and fair. Since Venus in Virgo helped us figure out how to tighten our finances, Venus in Libra can use this knowledge to feel financially at ease as financial matters level out. So, this may look like a fair debt-to-income ratio or committing to income-driven payment plans. Ideally, each financial opportunity should be heavily considered. Venus in Libra will need to weigh the pros and cons before deciding to ensure that the best financial decision is being made. While this might be quite a process, it can help us feel at ease with our finances. Venus in Libra is also partner-driven, so this might be the perfect time to work with someone. Pairing up with a romantic, platonic, or professional partner to be financially stable is possible during Venus in Libra. Contracts or agreements could be on the table, but make sure that a second pair of eyes will read it before you agree to it.
