WE DID IT! I’m not sure about you, but it is so weird to finally be at the end of the year. Unlike 2020, which lasted ages in my opinion, 2021 seems like it flew by. And my, what a year! But of course, this year cannot have a forgettable ending. December closes out the major astrological transits while also transitioning us into 2022. We have a few planets switching up the retrograde statuses, an eclipse, and more. I’m excited to dive into our last forecast article for this year!
Major Transits
Beginning on December 1, Neptune finally stations direct in Pisces. For what seemed like forever and a day, Neptune’s retrograde is over. As the fog dissipates, Neptune’s imaginative vision shines. There is oneness and absolution at the end of the retrograde period. Acceptance is the result as the collective leans into the mystical flow. The truth has been unveiled. The question is, is do we accept it for what it is? If the work has been done, direct Neptune in Pisces has a loving embrace for whatever the Universe holds for us. There is an intuitive knowing that all will work out as eternal love and acceptance for the unknown is the answer. However, if the work has not been done, the fog seems to evade our vision. The rose-colored glasses are returned to our eyes as we evade the undesirable aspect of reality – the truth. Escapism is likely. Neptune’s direct nature is the line one walks between the 3D and 5D. The trick? Forgiveness and compassion as the ugly truths of the dreamy planet reveal itself. I have an old, but gold post on Neptune retrograde if you would like to read more about its retrograde state – click here to read.
Following Neptune stationing direct, there will be the final eclipse on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis! On December 4, there is a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius! After a little over a year, the eclipses on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis end on an expansive note. On its own, a new moon represents a new lunar cycle in a sign for the next six months. Then a total solar eclipse, which can only occur during a new moon, aligns when the new moon perfectly positions itself between the sun and Earth. Blackout! As a whole, the New Moon Total Solar Eclipse indicates a radical new beginning, cycle, or chapter. It can be difficult to definitively define where an eclipse portal will go. The energy of eclipses is rather chaotic, so expect the unexpected. A few things could be generally identified in this eclipse! As it is the final eclipse on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis, ending in Sagittarius, the goal would be to expand. Like Artemis with her bow, Sagittarius quivers with excitable tension before dashing off to explore unknown territory. So, the collective will likely experience Sagittarius qualities and 9th House themes during this evocative lunation. Attributes like courage, adventure, and independence are sure to make an appearance. Ecliptic Luna invokes not only the feeling but the action towards change. The Sagittarius nature spreads like a wildfire, consuming and engulfing everything in its path. The 9th House themes of foreign or long-distance travel, higher education, politics, philosophy, spirituality, and beliefs will also be apparent – a perfect catalyst for Jupiter’s impending ingress into Pisces. As the eclipse portal’s effects unfold over the next six months, the key is being open-minded. Anything could be a learning curve!
The Rising signs will experience new fated cycles and chapters in these Houses;
- Aries Rising: 9th House of Long-Term Travel, Higher Education, Spirituality, Law, Ethics, Morals, Beliefs
- Taurus Rising: 8th House of Merging, Joint Assets/Finances, Marriages/Divorces, Taboo, Occult, Psychology, Sexual Bonds

- Pisces Rising: 10th House of Career, Legacy, Recognition, Public Status
Then on December 13, Mars enters Sagittarius and Mercury enters Capricorn!
Mars leaves its domicile in Scorpio for expressive Sagittarius! Mars in Sagittarius is neither detriment nor dignified, so it is considered a peregrine placement. However, Mars in Sagittarius is anything but “neutral”! Action-packed Mars aims to traverse new terrain in Sagittarius. Large and in charge, Mars in Sagittarius has immense drive. Taking action comes easy as Mars in Sagittarius can rise to the occasion with a hopeful pep in its step. Although Mars has horsepower, it can lack direction. The mutable quality of Sagittarius can lead Mars awry, so it’s a transit that can tackle a few ventures at once but may not finish any of them. Mars in Sagittarius redirects fairly easily, so turning attention from one task to the next is effortless. However, Mars in Sagittarius will need to sustain its drive to see a task through. There could be a few loose ends left by the end of this transit. However, if culture, travel, or philosophical matters spark interest, then Mars in Sagittarius will likely stick through with the endeavor! The fiery willpower extends to the anger of this Martian transit. All the Archer needs is a target and BOOM! Mars in Sagittarius has a rage that comes and goes in waves. The mutable aspect of Mars in Sagittarius is perfect for shrugging off the tiny annoyances. Anger doesn’t plague this Martian transit. However, when angry, expect it to expand and explode with force. Mars in Sagittarius will not mince its words or actions once it has found a target for its rage. Like a wildfire, anger can consume Mars in Sagittarius. So, try to lean into the mutable fiery nature to let go of the anger as it comes. Since Mars enters Sagittarius just before the holidays, the root of conflict can likely be traced back to arrogant opinions, a difference in politics, religious disagreements, and philosophical debates. Luckily, conflict can be short-lived if Mars in Sagittarius can agree to disagree. This force of nature extends to the bedroom as Mars in Sagittarius is a passionate lover! Fast and furious, Mars in Sagittarius has an insatiable drive. Sex takes on a more excitable tone. Mars in Sagittarius encourages sexual risks, such as trying something out of the comfort zone or being more carefree about sensual passions. Since Mars in Sagittarius is all about sexual freedom, it may not be the best transit to try new sexual commitments. If anything, Mars in Sagittarius dares to explore new sexual conquests!
As Mars enters Scorpio, Mercury leaves its exile with the Archer for solid grounds with the Sea-Goat. Mercury’s tone is governed by Saturn, so there is heavy contemplation associated with thinking, speaking, and writing. Mercury in Capricorn is capricious. It is the perfect Mercurial transit to consider tone, turf, and timing as Mercury in Capricorn is reserved. Communication is careful. Mercury in Capricorn will initiate when the time is ready. Writing is somewhat prudent since Mercury aims to be conservative in flair and fun. Mercury in Capricorn is more black-and-white in execution, so this is perfect for being transparent. Transparency is steady as the earthy nature of Capricorn delivers the message with a grounded tone and stable perception. There are not any raised voices or inappropriate jokes. If anything, Mercury in Capricorn punctures the stoicism with dry, if self-deprecating, humor. Aside from that, it’s business per usual. Mercurial pursuits are taken with a serious level of responsibility. Since Mercury in Capricorn is serious, it is willing to assume responsibility for words written or spoken. So, this is the perfect transit to own mishaps, miscommunication, and other mistakes. After all, the goal for Mercury in Capricorn is to produce something. The earthy tangibility of Mercury aims to fulfill or sustain a long-term goal. Hopefully, whatever is spoken or written presents itself physically. With that in mind, it is perfect for setting to-do lists, writing goals, or manifestations as Mercury in Capricorn is mentally oriented to successfully bringing into fruition. Productivity is key for Mercury in Capricorn, so expect to be ambitious with mental and communicative pursuits!
Afterwards, there will be a Full Moon in Gemini on December 18. This is the first lunation on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis in the last year that hasn’t doubled as an eclipse! Full moons indicate a peak or culmination in a cycle. It can represent something coming to a close or to head. In the sign of Gemini, this full moon has Mercurial, 3rd House, and Twin undertones. During this lunation, there may be themes of communication, writing, editing, neighbors/neighborhoods, local communities, short-term travel. Mental Luna could draw pertinent topics to head, both collectively and personally. There may be serious conversations that finally unfold. Debates could come to a close. Consider this a lunar sign to stop beating the dead horse. The full moon in Gemini also indicates a peak with writing and public speaking, a perfect time to edit before sending off the final copies. It could be impactful if it’s right before an important meeting or pitch as the full moon could edit Mercurial assets one last time. Since the full moon impacts the local communities, it could result in a change in neighborly relations. Some Rising signs can expect a minor move, perhaps relocating to a different part of town or a change in roommates. Other signs may expect a change in close group dynamics – potentially as a result of conversations unfolding during the lunation! Sibling relationships may also be emotional around the full moon, particularly if there is a change in dynamics in-between the holiday festivities. As Luna is particularly heady in Gemini, expect to be in your head through the transit. It could be a particularly anxiety-fueling transit as lovely Luna could go one of two ways in multifaceted Gemini. So, mental matters could result in analysis paralysis or the rumination station. If this is the case, honor the lunation through writing. Under the full moon in Gemini, sit down with pen and paper. Write about your inner thoughts, what you have learned over the last six months, how you can improve your communication skills, etc. You could creatively write by phrasing your perception as a poem or a story. If you are looking to let go under the full moon, write down what you are releasing on a bay leaf or paper (fold the paper away from you), allow it to burn, and cast the ashes outside.
The Rising signs will be experience peaks or cycles closing in these Houses;
- Aries Rising: 3rd House of Neighborhood, Local Community, Local/Short-Distance Travel, Communication, & Siblings
- Taurus Rising: 2nd House of Personal Finances, Financial Security, Material Items, Personal Property, Values
- Gemini Rising: 1st House of the Self & Perception
- Cancer Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
- Leo Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, Humanity
- Virgo Rising: 10th House of Career, Legacy, Recognition, Public Status
- Libra Rising: 9th House of Long-Term Travel, Higher Education, Spirituality, Law, Ethics, Morals, Beliefs
- Scorpio Rising: 8th House of Merging, Joint Assets/Finances, Marriages/Divorces, Taboo, Occult, Psychology, Sexual Bonds
- Sagittarius Rising: 7th House of Contracts, Commitments, Partners (of all kinds)
- Capricorn Rising: 6th House of Work, Daily Grind, Routine, Healthy Habits/Practices, Pets
- Aquarius Rising: 5th House of Joy, Fun, Hobbies, Past-Times, Pregnancy/Children, Dating/Romance, Drama
- Pisces Rising: 4th House of Home, Family, Heritage, Mother/Mother-Figure
A day later, Venus will station retrograde in Capricorn while Chiron stations direct in Aries.
Venus extends her stay in Capricorn by entering into a retrograde period. Retrogrades ask the collective to rethink, review, revise. It is a meaningful period to pause for the cause, essentially focusing on the present and past to master the planet’s lessons. Venus retrograde implements lessons in love, beauty, and money. Lessons in love come from learning about past relationships. Ex’s may come back physically and or emotionally, triggering your growth potential. Since Venus Rx is reporting to Saturn, Saturn is secretly calling the shots throughout the transit. As one considers relationships, proposals, property, and money, there is an underlying call to be mature. Venus Rx is regressing to revert to the basics. It will strip away the frills and fluff of love, materials, and money. As a result, Saturn encourages Venus Rx to seriously consider productive, long-term commitments. Venus Rx in Capricorn is ambitious, so this period to rethink your commitments is pertinent to future growth and success. Although Venus Rx is trying, it can be successful as we work through karmic commitments while prioritizing enduring ones. Click to check out my old but gold article on Venus Rx.
Chiron in Aries also stations direct, bringing an end to an introverted period of self-reflection. Chiron, the tiny asteroid, represents wounds one has difficulties healing. Like its mythology, Chiron can be the wound that one cannot heal in themselves, but can heal in others. In Aries, Chiron triggers the emotional wounds of an abandoned inner child, anger, resentment towards masculine energy, aggression, fears of sexual expression, tapping into leadership capabilities, and impulsivity. The retrograde period taught the collective what healthy selfish actions can present as. It could have triggered individuals to step up in their authority or relinquish power. Chiron Rx could have produced opportunities for sexual self-expression and exploration. Anger and aggression could have been apparent as one may have had to work through difficult emotional periods. Now direct, Chiron encourages us to consider our inner Wounded Warrior. Now is the time to act with intention as the collective has a better understanding of their individual inner child’s needs, healthy expression of anger, positive relationship with sexual expression, and knowing the distinction of instinct over impulsivity. A new astrological season begins on December 21 when the sun enters Capricorn! As the sun reports to Saturn, the astrological season is stoic. Capricorn season is serious business only. Throughout the season of the Sea-Goat, the collective is encouraged to be grounded in disposition while staying focused on the long-term goals. As everything takes on a more black-and-white tone, Capricorn’s authority rules. The sun in Capricorn demands respect, status, and legacy. Now is the time to make serious long-term commitments to success. For some, that looks like a career move. For others, these commitments could be to a family, a partner, or a healing journey. Whatever it may be, just know that Capricorn season intends to go about it with maturity!
Three days later, Saturn in Aquarius forms a final square with Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. The third and final square of the year is sure to pack a last-minute punch! Denoted as the “signature” of the year by Desiree Antila of Simply Sun Signs, these Saturn-Uranus squares have significantly impacted the collective.
The first square in mid-February was associated with the widespread availability for vaccines, a remarkable Deep Cold, and playing it too close with the stock market. As a result, the collective shared increasingly mixed opinions about vaccine mandates, and several states, particularly Texas, were incredibly unprepared to weather the arctic temperatures. The stock market was able to somewhat stabilize post-square. By the end of the first square, the three C’s – climate, currency, and COVID-19 – were established themes.
Then in mid-June, the three C’s (climate, currency, COVID-19) re-emerged when Saturn retrograde began to square Uranus. The second square was different as Saturn retrograde could have impacted the revision of structure, responsibility, and maturity with the square’s themes in mind. By this time, there were revisions implemented on buying and selling cryptocurrency to avoid another Dogecoin, “to the moon”, and AMC. As Gen Z would say, the participants of the stock market may have “girlbossed a bit too close to the sun”. Aside from crypto, economic matters were shifting as there was a rising labor shortage across the U.S. As a result of the labor shortages, there are ongoing issues with supply chain as goods are in a port chokehold. The disruption of the supply chain has continually stalled goods from hitting the market, impacting the economy. Climate issues were arising, progressing from the deep cold to record-breaking earthquakes. Following the second square, there were record-breaking heatwaves as well! These heatwaves indicate a rise in climate crisis – very Uranus in Taurus! At the time of the second square, the Pfizer vaccine seemed to be the leading COVID-19 resolution. Hope was renewed as it appeared that the availability of vaccines. Perhaps this was a Jupiter in Pisces mindset that the collective inexplicably adopted at the time. Time will tell.
So, the year-long progress of the squares peaks on December 24. Now, Saturn is direct, but Uranus retrograde is in effect, which implies that restructuring and accountability have taken place, however, the concept of value, comfort, and stability undergo its internal revolution. The energy of the final square has an electric undercurrent. It sparks uncertainty. Looming over us is the unknown, the potential of where this square could lead in the future. To understand how the final square could unfold, let’s recap what has happened since the second square.
There has been a tropical storm and then Hurricane Ida. 2021 has set a new record for heatwaves, indicating that “extreme events are the new norm” as stated by Prof. Taalas. However, some positive steps have already been taken to offset the growing crisis such as the Glasgow Climate Pact. More recently, there have been reports of a potential second deep freeze, indicating that it may be potentially similar to the one earlier this year around the first square. Since Uranus has moved into Taurus, there have been growing concerns about the radicalization of the climate crisis. It isn’t to say that the climate crisis wasn’t a concern before Uranus entered Taurus or is a newer concept. If anything, it seems that Uranus’s transit in Taurus alludes to the growing concern to offset the collective’s negative impact on the climate. Since Uranus has met Saturn in a square three times by the end of the year, it appears that there is a significant call to course-correct around growing climate crisis concerns as there are extreme events either around or post-square. So, winter’s potential climate concerns may present as a second deep freeze amid a particularly long, cold winter punctuated by a series of storms.
Aside from the climate crisis, the pandemic has also taken some interesting turns. Around the second square, Pfizer seemed to be the leading effective vaccine. However, “one study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found Moderna vaccine to be 96.3% effective in preventing symptomatic illness in health care workers compared to 88.8% for Pfizer” (Quote from Yale Medicine). As outbreaks of the Delta variant increased, resulting in the release of booster shots. The astrology community also took more interest as The Washington Post released an article on Salt Lake County’s vaccine status according to Zodiac signs. Additionally, the Biden Administration announced that businesses with 100 or more employees mandate vaccines or weekly testings along with mandated face masks for unvaccinated employees. Although the mandate makes allowances for those who wish to remain unvaccinated, there is still a public outcry about the supposed loss of freedom or that it goes against spiritual/religious belief systems. Realistically, this could be a Saturn in Aquarius concept as vaccine mandates are considered a restriction of bodily autonomy. However, it is also a Saturn in Aquarius concept as some restrictions are necessary for other forms of freedom, which vaccines can arguably represent. Since Uranus retrograde in Taurus is in the mix, there is a wake-up, shake-up concept of the value of comfort and stability, which vaccine mandates could impact economically and personally. The mandate could become subject to change as it’s implemented on January 4, following the third and final square of 2021. It may depend on emerging factors such as a rising discourse between those who are pro-vaccine with those who are anti-vaccine along with the new variant of COVID-19 that has been detected – the Omicron variant. As a result of the discovery, new travel restrictions are in place against South African countries. Arguably, travel restrictions are a Saturn in Aquarius concept as Saturn restricts the communal Aquarius and hope for freedom. It also plays into Uranus retrograde in Taurus, as travel restrictions can cause a potential economic ripple effect. While Omicron has yet to be identified in the U.S.A., it could arguably be a matter of time. As the third square approaches, it will be likely that growing concerns of Omicron could lead to a revival of Saturn in Aquarius restrictions that go beyond travel. It wouldn’t be surprising if a nationwide mask mandate becomes commonplace once again on top of the travel restrictions. By the third square, there could be new travel restrictions, which could feel like taking a step back from the progress that was made this year.
Finally, there hasn’t been much change with labor shortages and ports being held in a chokehold resulting in a supply chain crisis. If anything, the lack of progress seems daunting as we approach an all-too capitalistic holiday season that is hellbent on gifting the finest hot commodities. As a result, businesses could look at financial paralyzation as they could potentially become too short on goods to make a reasonable profit. To avoid the problem, CNBC reports that retailers are over-ordering, arguably making the supply chain crisis worse. CNN recommends in-store shopping to avoid delays in shipping, which is arguably a Uranus retrograde theme as online shopping seems to be the favored go-to for holiday presents. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal dubs the supply chain crisis “the defining feature” of this year’s economy. All indicate a slow but sure Uranus retrograde in Taurus theme as there is a revision to the supply chain process impacting the value placed on both necessary goods and frivolous items. As this is happening, there have been some newer revelations in the world of crypto such as Bitcoin’s themes following the lunar phases. Bitcoin seems to peak around the new moon but dip in value around the full moon. Arguably, this is a Saturn in Aquarius theme as it’s a unique structure to technological currency but also a Uranus retrograde in Taurus theme as there is an unexpected lunar correlation to the value of Bitcoin. It is an interesting concept to take notice of as the Nodes and the eclipses are transiting in the Scorpio/Taurus throughout 2022.
So, as we have the three C’s to consider approaching the third and final square of the year. Arguably, the climate crisis will heighten during the square, likely resulting in paralyzing snowstorms and record-breaking cold temperatures. I also wonder if accidents due to black ice will become a larger issue reported in the news. COVID-19 may see an upswing during the flu season, especially with the Omicron variant. The Biden Administration’s mandatory vaccine (or weekly testing/masks for unvaccinated employees) may take a surprising twist, potentially implementing new adjustments to the mandate, stalling the implementation of such, or a collective rise both pro and against the mandate. With the Omicron variant, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Biden Administration took a more Saturn in Aquarius approach, such as restricting travel even more than South Africa, upping the travel requirements for domestic flights, and even implementing a nationwide mask mandate. Of course, the collective may resent this as it affects how one values their freedom (the right to choose to wear a mask or get vaccinated) as well as one’s luxuries (i.e. those mid-winter vacations to warmer spots). The booster shot may also have some early initial research results around the square, potentially affecting the value one places on the vaccine. Finally, the value of cryptocurrency is sure to take a hit as Saturn in Aquarius may restrict the unexpected value of Uranus retrograde in Taurus. So, there may be instances of inflation around this time. Economic incentives may rise during the square to offset labor shortages, but there is the question of how valued the incentive could be. Individual entities may offer some sort of financial incentive to retain employment or gain employment, which could arguably irritate Saturn in Aquarius’s karmic duty to freedom. The collective may not be easily swayed to work for the bare minimum – Uranus retrograde in Taurus – so the square may result in some sort of professional compromise. The chokehold on the supply chain crisis may feel the grip of Saturn in Aquarius, giving way to more unpredictable economic turmoil as denoted by Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Venus retrograde will also be conjunct Pluto during the square so how the collective commits to value will transform through a death and rebirth. The conjunction echoes themes from the one in late January (Gamestop surge and buyout of AMC shares as a revolution against Wall Street) but are now arguably under revision thanks to Venus’s retrograde. Perhaps the collective revises the value placed on the easy accessibility to make purchases, potentially inciting a re-evaluation of the collective’s capitalistic itch. When access is restricted for one reason or another, then what does one have? What is valued then? Regardless, any positive economic shifts could be stalled as we approach the U.S.A.’s Pluto Return in February 2022. From now until the return, the concept of economy, goods, and labor will continue to change, likely resisting the unique structure of Saturn in Aquarius as the collective financial and material values undergo a revolution.
Finally, the year ends on a dreamy note when Jupiter enters Pisces on December 28. From May 13 to July 28, Jupiter was Pisces! During this brief pause in the Aquarian reign, the collective experienced a euphoria during Jupiter in Pisces. The transit came at the right time as it kicked off quite a fun-loving, free-flowing “hot girl summer”. It was like a break in the matrix. Hope felt renewed like things could potentially go back to normal a.k.a. pre-pandemic times. What one personally experienced during this small Jupiter transit will resurface at the end of December. Now back in Pisces, Jupiter is domicile. In Hellenistic astrology, Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces so this transit comes naturally. Jupiter in Pisces is magic. Elusive and mystifying, Jupiter is Pisces is the dream of other worlds. While Jupiter rules expansion, this may not be a physical path in Pisces. Jupiter in Pisces chooses the mystical route, one filled with spiritual enlightenment. In some ways, Jupiter in Pisces is like the journey to nirvana. It can be a religious revolution as the collective seeks out answers from an assumed higher power. Spiritual practices may take off more at this time, from a rise in attendance at religious institutions to increased sales for spiritual tools, like bibles and crystals. Filled with unconditional love, Jupiter in Pisces inspires gentle compassion in the collective. Boundaries between us fall effortlessly as Jupiter in Pisces dissolves the harsh lines between communities. It is like a religious movement almost as everyone comes together under Jupiter in Pisces. One love, one heart is the mindset. With this love and light mentality, there could also be rose-colored glasses. Jupiter’s idealistic journey in the spiritual realm isn’t the clearest as Pisces can be an easily confusing sign. One’s intrinsic search could become clouded as reality is more mutable during this transit. So, false prophets and spiritual charlatans may arise during this time. Religious movements may have sinister undertones. Spiritual beliefs could be skewed for the sake of being trendy. The collective may also follow well-known social figures with unrelenting love. Politicians, pop stars, and celebrities will likely amass a forgivable cult-like following. The collective will see them for what they want these figures to be instead of who they are. Since it follows Jupiter in Aquarius, cult-like followings will pop up in disguise. I can’t help but think that our views of mass followings are skewed, thus apprehending our ability to recognize a cult-like following or movement. As a recent example, the last time Jupiter was in Pisces was 2010, which was when Genesis II Church of Health and Healing popped up. Since then, this institution has been under heavy investigation for backing the supposed health benefits of bleach, thus becoming more well-known throughout the pandemic (1, 2, 3, 4). Yikes. The beauty of the recent collective trends is the newfound motivation post-Jupiter in Pisces. While researching the social happenings according to Jupiter in Pisces in 2010, I did notice that there was a rise in social movements throughout Jupiter’s transits in Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. This makes me almost wonder if the dissolution of reality, the entry to the astral realm that comes with Jupiter in Pisces, will be a break from the matrix. Sounds esoteric, I know. But Jupiter in Pisces strikes me as a collective pause, a regrouping to come back together to unify before we rally again post-Jupiter in Pisces transit. But now we are talking years down the road. For now, let’s allow Jupiter in Pisces to dissolve the final hours of 2021 as we are guided into the new year.
