Are you ready? Kiss the astrological ease goodbye because April is going to set a few major events in motion! But before the energy picks up, we can expect a rather enjoyable build-up of transits and aspects. There are three major lunations to look forward to this month, plus an upcoming retrograde. There’s also a somewhat rare transit between two outer planets to look forward to. Buckle up!
Major Transits
On the first day of April, there will be a new moon in Aries! It feels fitting that April Fool’s Day would be during the new moon in Aries since it feels like some fun prankster energy! As the new moon is emboldened by Aries energy, a new six-month cycle or chapter blazes with anticipation as the collective looks towards the future with certainty. Throughout these next six months, the lunar energy will ensure that Aries themes will be apparent with what comes to fruition. Fiery ambition, bold assertion, instinctual leadership skills, a Martian sex drive, and more will ram their way through this lunar cycle. Since Aries is also the traditional ruler of the 1st House, this lunar cycle could also revolve around carving out one’s bold, unforgettable identity. The catch with this lunation is sticking to whatever one sets out to do. Aries energy likes instant results or satisfaction, so a long-term project can be immensely boring if there isn’t any obvious progress. To make the most of this cycle, consider setting a bunch of smaller goals that will become milestones in the overall journey. Setting many small goals will be a fantastic way to catalog progress over time. The positive feedback from accomplishing each small goal along the way will keep the individual on track in their progress, making it easier to accomplish the overarching goal.
Taking it back to the prankster energy of April Fool’s Day, the new moon will conjunct Chiron in Aries. If you choose to play a joke on a fellow friend or loved one on this day, be mindful of this conjunction since Chiron is the Wounded Healer in astrology. Jokes about one’s identity, ego, sexual energy, sexual orientation, and ambition should be avoided. Aside from this, the lunar-Chiron conjunction will feel raw. Beautiful and painful, the fire of Aries licks at unhealed emotional wounds. Despite the intensity of the burns, Luna brings out the pains of Chiron in a helpful manner, encouraging the collective to consider what can need to be healed throughout this new lunar chapter. Vulnerability will be the true mark of bravery when appraising this conjunction. It may be easier to speak up about what one wishes to appraise more positively and heal since the moon will also conjunct Mercury in Aries. However, being outspoken about what is hurting can come in quite a gusto. Strong displays of emotion may come out in conversation, especially if the conversation allows for sheer honesty. Although intense, talking about the desire to heal and what needs to be worked through can be immensely courageous. The underlying energy of Mercury can even allow for new moon intentions and manifestations to come to fruition through the power of speaking, writing, and learning. See what sparks curiosity then go from there. This may be a clue as to what can be spoken into fruition.
Honor the new moon by writing a bay leaf wish. Go to your cupboard and find your bay leaves. Grab as many as you’d like along with a sharpie and a fire-safe vessel. Write your wishes on the leaves, one wish per leaf. Keep it simple. Mercury is in Aries after all, so be direct about your wishes. For example, write “love” or “money” on a leaf. When you’re ready, burn the leaf in a fire-safe vessel. Cast your ashes outside, or keep them for a manifestation spell. If you want to take a step further, oil up your white or red candle, coat the candle in the bay leaf ashes, then burn the candle. You can get fancy with it by using certain oils and herbs. But I would recommend keeping it straightforward.

A few days later, Venus finally enters its exaltation in Pisces. As the lovely goddess escapes old man Saturn and wild child Uranus, Venus will be embraced by expansive Jupiter and dreamy Neptune. Now in Pisces, Venus operates with a higher vibration of appreciation for romance, glamour, and riches. Idealistic and loving, Venus in Pisces craves a storybook romance. Unlike friendly yet aloof Venus in Aquarius, this new Venusian energy oozes with adoration. It will be a fantastic transit to write poetry about a lover’s touch, to paint a soulmate’s resemblance in watercolors, and to sing songs of everlasting love. It’s almost too sweet. Daydreams of merging into one soul under the grace of romance will cloud common sense. Although incredibly hopeful, Venus in Pisces can be too idealistic in love. The rose-colored glasses will become Venus’s favorite first date accessory, so be mindful of creating an abstracted view of a person. After all, Venus in Pisces will likely fall in love with the person created in their mind’s eye more so than the actual individual. At least the beautification can extend to aesthetics and style since Venus in Pisces will happily adopt a more fantastical approach to glamour. Glitter and stardust will be trending as Venus in Pisces happily adorns itself in soft materials, pastel colors, and becomes oriented to fantasia beauty. This contradicts the sun in Aries as it clashes with the abrasive warrior exterior. To find the common ground, wear and surround yourself with the beauty that speaks volumes to your courage. It may mean experimenting with a softer, more vulnerable style in your decor, design, and wardrobe. Anything can be a suit of armor – even flowing dresses and hair tinsel! Finally, money will be taken with a go-with-the-flow mentality. Venus in Pisces won’t be overly concerned about the rising price of goods and gas. But the disconnection from inflation can be a little dangerous since Venus in Pisces could struggle with money matters. Although graced by the underlying abundance of Jupiter, Venus can still deal with the excessive side of Jupiter’s influence. So, Venus in Pisces may spend more than usual, or disregard the reality of prices. Money flows to and from Venus in Pisces since this transit suggests having hope that every expense will be rewarded. But hope may not be enough given the currently sociopolitical and economic climate. Try to keep faith that all money matters will work out, but maintain a level of financial ambition to remain somewhat secure.
Then on April 10, Mercury enters Taurus. The mental switch will be immediate since Mercury stops reporting to blazing Mars and begins reporting to domesticated Venus. The collective will physically and mentally slow down now that Mercury takes on a plodding, careful tone in Taurus. The mind’s previous lightning-fast reflexes slow down to consider each detail as it comes up. Intuitive yet steady, Mercury in Taurus likes to work through each conversation, idea, opinion, and more with a dutiful responsibility. Simple in nature, Mercury in Taurus prefers to break down the Mercurial components into something more digestible. As conversation flows throughout this transit, the collective may feel more stable in its correspondences. Conversations will take the scenic route as the five senses will become pertinent in each discussion. Topics may revolve around Taurus themes of security, money, value, and personal property. Venus may come through in its ability to accurately describe everything it holds near and dear to its heart. Luckily, this stable, steady-minded transit can cool the jets during Aries season. The collective may not feel as inclined to jump straight in, but rather take its time in assessing the situation. “Seeing is believing” may become more common throughout this transit since the collective may need to have proof of some kind before going forth with an idea or pursuit. Charmingly determined, Mercury in Taurus will stick to its guns during this transit. But feeling certain in one’s contribution to education, conversation, and more is a result of slowly coming to the conclusion throughout Mercury’s time in Taurus.
Two days later, Jupiter conjuncts Neptune in Pisces, suggesting the blossoming of a fool’s paradise. This conjunction doesn’t happen very often, so it tends to be a rare transit. Where is the line drawn? As these two celestial bodies blend, merge, and absorb one another within Pisces’s whimsical waters, the veil dissipates. Fantasy becomes reality. Wholly magical and otherworldly, the conjunction is like a lush oasis amid the blazing Aries season. Since Jupiter can expand upon Neptune and follows Neptune’s lead in this conjunction, there will be an overarching feeling of infinite hope. Wishes, daydreams, and the subconscious realm are as real as what’s already come to fruition. I highly suggest recording your dreams a few days leading up to the conjunction, during the conjunction, and a few days after. The mystical energy will make its signs and signals known indirectly. If you have trouble remembering your dreams, it can also be a fantastic transit for meditation. Be mindful of what you dream excessively about as the Universe can be taken as a manifestation. Beliefs will also take precedence during this transit, not only the spiritual kind but general beliefs of the world around us. As the collective soaks up the fantastical energy, it would be wise to watch what’s taken verbatim. After all, Neptune’s elusive energy can disregard straightforward facts, and Jupiter’s grandiosity will gallantly lead with whatever feels right.
Two great posts on this conjunction are on astrologyuniversity.com and another one is by Gary Crawford on wellbeing.com.
Afterward, Mars joins Venus by entering Pisces on April 14. Like Venus, Mars will also be reporting to Jupiter and Neptune. Unlike Venus, Mars is not exalted in Pisces. If anything, Mars tends to falter in water signs considering that it’s fall in Cancer. But even if Mars in Pisces is not traditionally dignified or debilitated, it still has pros and cons. Acts of aggression and anger are not readily launched during Mars in Pisces. It isn’t a traditional Martian transit. The collective may feel strongly one moment only to swim away from such harsh energy the next moment. Mars in Pisces tends to have fleeting moments of anger, usually initiated in moments of delusion and confusion. So, it may be an odd Martian transit as moments of rage could come out of nowhere with no direct root or cause. When this occurs, embrace a more compassionate side of Mars in Pisces. The wax and wane of aggression extend to ambition. Mars in Pisces is highly creative, intuitively aligned with projects and passions that speak to one’s emotional investment in them. If the collective lacks spontaneity and emotional drive, then some ambitions will never come to fruition. Visualizing the process of a project will be a huge pro during this transit as it will allow individuals to optimistically tweak their game plan. The intuitive capabilities of Mars in Pisces will be noted in its sensual energy and sexual exchanges. Hopefully, one’s intuition will allow them to make the correct choice sexually and to read the situation accordingly. Boundaries may still be disregarded, likely in the name of love. Be mindful of your partner’s expectations and sexual rules during Mars in Pisces to avoid hitting a passionate grey area. Sex will be extremely romantic, especially since Venus is also in Pisces. Since Mars will continue its transit in Pisces well into Taurus season, it will likely lend to wining and dining to woo romantic partners. Tender and sweet, Mars in Pisces will see sex as a spiritual act to bond with a partner. Be mindful of who you are bonding with since sexual energy is highly spiritual!
The lovely energy intensifies under the balanced full moon in Libra on April 16. The last time the moon was in Libra was the new moon on October 6. Consider the time between now and then. What commitments have come up? What relationships have you entered? Have things been balanced and reciprocal with others during this time? As you ponder these questions, commitments, contracts, arrangements, relationships (of all kinds), and reciprocity within each come full circle. Perhaps the full moon is marked by a completion, a milestone, or even an ending. As it comes full circle, the full moon in Libra aims to restore peace for both entities involved at either end of the arrangement. It may even be a lawful lunation since Libra can be associated with legal arrangements. Marriages, divorces, and contractual obligations may be another factor to consider during the lunation. As the full moon peaks, the collective needs to prioritize a “me versus we” mentality. Although relationships are pertinent, they only work if both parties involved are willing to make it work.
The full moon will square Pluto in Capricorn, tensely rearing the transformation of commitments to head. Pluto’s dire energy can turn the lunation inside out, exposing and forcing the truth to come to light. As each relationship goes under the Plutonic microscope, there may be some forced truths that shape one’s decision regarding the commitment. Libra’s energy will not like to jump to conclusions or decisions unless it has all the facts, so Luna can count on Pluto to bring forth all the necessary information needed to make a decision. As the square unfolds, it would be best to consider how the power dynamics work in each commitment and relationship. If it feels unbalanced, then the transformative energy of the square can allow each individual to work on their relationship. However, if there are pressing issues with control, then Pluto can encourage Luna to break away from what will never work.
Honor the full moon by pampering yourself. As the Venusian and Plutonic energy clash, it may feel stressful. Take a step back to focus on your self-care. Honor the lunation with a skincare routine, or even a massage. Focus on beautifying yourself to feel better as you maneuver your relationships.
The Rising signs will experience the ending of a cycle in these Houses:
- Aries Rising: 7th House of Contracts, Commitments, Partners (of all kinds)
- Taurus Rising: 6th House of Work, Daily Grind, Routine, Healthy Habits/Practices, Pets
- Gemini Rising: 5th House of Joy, Fun, Hobbies, Past-Times, Pregnancy/Children, Dating/Romance, Drama
- Cancer Rising: 4th House of Home, Family, Heritage, Mother/Mother-Figure
- Leo Rising: 3rd House of Neighborhood, Local Community, Local/Short-Distance Travel, Communication, & Siblings
- Virgo Rising: 2nd House of Personal Finances, Financial Security, Material Items, Personal Property, Values
- Libra Rising: 1st House of the Self & Perception
- Scorpio Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
- Sagittarius Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, Humanity
- Capricorn Rising: 10th House of Career, Legacy, Recognition, Public Status
- Aquarius Rising: 9th House of Long-Term Travel, Higher Education, Spirituality, Law, Ethics, Morals, Beliefs
- Pisces Rising: 8th House of Merging, Joint Assets/Finances, Marriages/Divorces, Taboo, Occult, Psychology, Sexual Bonds
Three days later, the sun leaves Aries for Taurus. Now that Taurus season is in full swing, it is time to stop and smell the roses. Reporting to Venus, the sun is incredibly tasteful and charming. Taurus season is simply beautiful. You know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers”? Well, that will certainly ring true thanks to the Pisces stellium throughout Aries season that will allow Taurus season to blossom. Springy and fresh, Taurus season is usually a valuable time. The collective usually feel more secure in daily occurrences and with personal items. It’s a relatively stable season, which is a nice change of pace after rushing through Aries season. Typically predictable, Taurus season will have a few fun twists and turns coming. Stay tuned!
There’s a bit of a lull until the end of April. On April 29, Pluto stations retrograde in Capricorn at 28 degrees while Mercury enters Gemini.
Pluto retrograde usually lasts about five months and it happens every year, so this is not a shocking transit. During this time, the energy of Pluto retrograde will manifest slowly. Longer retrogrades usually come full circle or manifest over time, so they won’t feel as imminent as an inner planet retrograde. Throughout this time, Pluto will rethink, review, then revise its subconscious, regenerative traits. It’s almost like an exceptionally drawn-out Tower moment. Death and rebirth are possible, marked by a long-term period of transformation. Security, control, and power will fluctuate depending on the individual. Since Pluto will be turning Capricorn inside out during this time, additional themes of career, legacy, karmic duty, responsibility, status, and leadership will also come into question. Watch for future Plutonic aspects during this retrograde as it may reveal more about the authority figures in one’s life. Political leaders are a fantastic example, especially ones that play into dated hierarchies. Cardinal placements (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, and Libra) around 26 to 28 degrees will feel the weight of the transit the most.
To lighten the heaviness of entering the underworld, Mercury will flit into Gemini on the same day. Domicile and reporting to no other planet but itself, Mercury is at home in Gemini. Like a tiny hummingbird, Mercury in Gemini will fly from curiosity to curiosity with excitement. Social interactions will take on a light-hearted ease as conversations will pertain to easygoing matters and digestible topics. Mercury in Gemini is remarkably insightful, encouraging the collective to entertain neighborly interactions with friends and strangers alike. It can be a fantastic transit to talk to all sorts of people in your immediate communities and friend groups. Keep it light and fresh. Ask as many questions as possible to gather as much information as possible. Enjoy reading others like the open books that they are. There is so much to learn from each interaction in one’s backyard. If anything, be mindful of falling into hot water. Mercury in Gemini’s curious nature does not need to meddle in tiresome affairs that ooze drama. Since interests are now piqued, utilize this energy to learn something new. Mercury in Gemini is the very embodiment of, “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” Use this transit to explore your interests as they come up, especially if you can access workshop or event in your local area that correlates with your subject of interest.
Then on the very last day of the month, eclipse season begins. The new moon partial solar eclipse is in Taurus at 10 degrees. Holy guacamole! New moons mark a new six-month cycle unfolding, usually resulting in some sort of culmination during the next full moon in the same sign as the new moon. But this one is special! This new moon may actually come in waves, peaking in full after 1.5 years. Since this new moon is also a partial solar eclipse, this only occurs when the moon is partially obstructing the moon, casting a shadow onto the Earth. Unlike other lunations, eclipses are tricky. There is no telling what will come out of it, or where it could lead. Each event is unexpected, surprising, yet fated. However, this eclipse still bodes themes that relate to Taurus and the 2nd House. Concepts like value, personal property, money, security, luxury, simplicity, and loyalty are suddenly up in the air. There is a lack of steadiness as the Taurus energy tries to dig its lunar heels in. Regardless, the Universe will take this lunation in any way that it sees fit.
Since the lunation sextiles Mars in Pisces as well, there is an intuitive yet somewhat directionless ambition associated with the trajectory of the eclipse. Mars encourages listening to the heart when maneuvering this energy. It’s actually somewhat perfect since neither Pisces nor Taurus energy is particularly assertive with ambitions. So, this Martian drive can allow the collective to go with the flow of the lunation. It can also clear any expectations, allowing an easygoing mindset that can accommodate for events that fall outside of the comfort zone.
When it comes to manifesting, I do not recommend it during the eclipse portal unless you are truly open to any outcome. What I do recommend is staying away from major purchases, sales, investments, or payments. Try not to take on any other debt during this time. Set aside a small nest egg for yourself so that you can secure your personal assets.
The Rising signs will experience an unexpected yet fated new cycle unfolding in these Houses:
- Aries Rising: 2nd House of Personal Finances, Financial Security, Material Items, Personal Property, Values
- Taurus Rising: 1st House of the Self & Perception
- Gemini Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
- Cancer Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, Humanity
