October Forecast

October begins with a few retrogrades in motion, but the tone and astrological energy considerably lighten throughout the month! Almost all retrograde planets will station direct this month. Libra Season seems to be the time where most planets station direct, which is fitting as Libra would want astrological balance throughout its season. The season itself is also tinged with a bit of fire – how exciting! By the time the Sun enters the magnetic Scorpio, the transits and direct planets are set up for success. October is arguably an assuring month ahead!

Major Transits

On October 6, there will be a New Moon in Libra. New Moons mark a new lunar cycle, indicating it’s the time to think about where life could lead over the next six months. This lunar phase is ideal for manifesting, game-planning, and setting goals. Since this is occurring in Libra, the manifestations and intentions for this New Moon may revolve around Libra’s ideals of justice, balance, fairness, equality, reciprocity, relationships, commitments, partnerships, and social inclusion. It can be the perfect transit for those who are seeking reformation through justice, especially if the court or the law is involved. It can be helpful for those who are seeking a partnership of any kind – romantic, platonic, familial, and/or business. The New Moon can even be helpful for those who want to work on their commitment problems, lack of balance, and codependency. Consider lighting a light pink candle or light blue candle under this New Moon to meditate with, journal next to, or even in honor of the lunar phase.

Also on October 6, Pluto stations direct in Capricorn. Tiny, masterful Pluto has ended it’s long retrograde period. During this time, Pluto contemplated all Capricorn ideals of tradition, karmic duty, foundations, the patriarchy, and responsibility. Individually, this was the time to reflect on one’s perception of authority and control, particularly with the life one is always building. Collectively, it was the time to rethink, review, revise how societal systems operate on a mass scale, and how to address the kinks within the system. The hope is that Pluto’s retrograde state can entice long-term change and transformation now that Pluto is direct.

A day later, Venus enters Sagittarius. After the long exile in the underworld of Scorpio, Venus welcomes change in peregrine Sagittarius. This transit is neither favorable nor unfavorable, but rather, a genuine middle ground. Venus in Sagittarius is adventurous, gifted with an eye for expansion. When it comes to beauty, this Venusian transit may favor something bolder, fresher, and exciting. It can be the ideal transit to adorn rich colors or striking make-up. Venus in Sagittarius tends to dazzle best in daring reds, blues, oranges, and purples. It is the transit that may also encourage looking into different beauty practices from other cultures. One may be inspired to wear Eurocentric clothing or to try the latest beauty trend from an entirely different country. Venus in Sagittarius can be a fantastic time to experiment with beauty standards – within reason, of course, as Sagittarius is associated with culture, so each model should be appreciated, not appropriated. When it comes to money, Venus in Sagittarius embodies the phrase, “money is burning a hole in my pocket”. Fiscal frets come and go. Venus in Sagittarius is about living in the moment, so money is required to do so. It may be a time where impulsive spending is notable as Venus in Sagittarius is all about dropping coins to avoid FOMO. Luckily, Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, implying expansion and abundance are on its side. This does come through with Venus in Sagittarius, but the mutable fiery nature intends that money is often well spent. Venus in Sagittarius also has an excellent grasp on not having more than it needs, so spending money generously is quite easy for this transit. So, what is the driving force behind this transit’s spending? It will likely have to do with travel, culture, and philosophy. It can be an ideal transit for booking trip details, registering for classes, indulging in new reading materials, or buying something totally beyond one’s comfort zone. Finally, when it comes to love, Venus in Sagittarius burns hot and bright. Romance is an enthralling adventure, passionate and captivating all the same. This is a rather noncommittal transit as the mutable, fiery nature of Sagittarius wants to explore then conquer the game of love. If anything, this is the perfect transit to date around. Singles can use Venus in Sagittarius to make an unforgettable first impression, from blunt humor to an unexpected date. Venus in Sagittarius can lead to riveting first dates! It may also be the time for singles to enjoy the dating game, particularly with getting to know their options. It can also be an ideal transit for couples to have a heart-to-heart about their morals, ethics, and beliefs. All in all, get ready for a motivating, encapsulating Venus transit!

By October 10, Saturn is also direct in Aquarius. While in retrograde, Saturn had time to think about what karmic duty, time, accountability, and karmic lessons meant. This was the time to introspect on Saturn’s ideals. Since this retrograde period occurred in Aquarius, there were additional themes of humanity, the greater community, collectivism, dreams, technology, and research to also consider. Individually, this past retrograde period was a time to reflect on one’s karmic lessons and accountability regarding one’s social groups, friends, technological influences (i.e. social media), and call for humanitarianism. It may have also been a time where one reflected on their individuality. Collectively, Saturn Rx was the transit to think about humanitarian themes regarding action, technology, and research. So, one could attribute this to COVID-19 vaccines, particularly any backlash about anti-vaxxers and any misconceptions regarding the implementation of the vaccine. It can also be attributed to the positive societal impact that the vaccine has had, such as lifting mask mandates or making travel more accessible. In general, Saturn stationing direct post-retrograde period could indicate a COVID-19 chapter coming to head. The same goes for cryptocurrency, as Saturn Rx in Aquarius marked several highs and lows in the stock market. However, the effect of the retrograde period for cryptocurrency likely won’t be seen until the third and final Saturn-Uranus square of the year in late December. As a whole, Saturn being direct in Aquarius can be the push the greater community needs to come back together under similar hopes, dreams, and wishes.

Then on October 18, Jupiter stations direct in Aquarius and Mercury stations direct in Libra.

While Jupiter was in retrograde, this was the time to reflect on expansion, luck, adventure, journeys concerning Aquarius ideals of collectivism, greater humanity, technology, and research. However, Jupiter first began its retrograde in Pisces, so it opened with reflecting on the Piscean ideals of self-undoing, compassion, dreams, undeniable love, delusion, escapism, and confusion. The entirety of Jupiter Rx highlighted the rose-colored glasses the individual and the collective wear. Considering Jupiter is direct around the same time Saturn is, there are themes of massive abundance coming out from doing the karmic shadow-work. Hopefully, both the great malefic and benefic can infer a sense of structure amidst reflecting on technology and research. It may indicate a COVID-19 chapter coming to head, particularly with reflecting on how the implementation of the vaccine has played out both in society and in research. Aside from this, Jupiter being direct can be a fantastic time to apply any individual karmic lessons regarding individuality, groups, and social inclusion. Both planets being direct can be purposeful for one growing as an individual, and humanity growing collectively.

Aside from this, Mercury is also direct! While in retrograde, there may have been communication mishaps, technological struggles, and travel details that went awry. Libra’s influence could have inferred problems with an issue coming to justice, relationship struggles, codependency on technology, and mishaps in new or budding commitments. All in all, any type of relationship would have taken a major hit during Mercury Rx. Now direct, it’s time to clean up the mess! Direct Mercury can be the ideal time to talk through any miscommunication with Libra’s devil’s advocate stance. It can be the perfect time to smooth over any gray areas in legal constructs, fine-tune agreements, and determine commitments. It may also be a time where relationships of any kind are at a make-or-break standstill. Regardless, direct Mercury in peace-keeping Libra will try its best to bring back a sense of balance!

The Full Moon in Aries on October 20 is an excellent way to wrap up the bulk of the retrograde period. Full Moons represent the ending of a cycle, the closing of a chapter, or the cumulation of lessons learned over the past six months. As this is occurring in Aries, it can be observed as the mid-astrological year checkpoint. Themes like independence, a “me” mentality, trailblazing, pioneering, fresh starts, and inner child are up for review under this Full Moon. The Full Moon in Aries may mark a time where one can appreciate their long-term solo missions. It can be a time to acknowledge any shadow-work done revolving around inner child work, appraising anger, and finding balance with selfishness. Generally speaking, consider any self-led endeavors over the past six months, what was discovered from the experiences, and what to take away from it.

The Rising signs can close a chapter in these Houses;

  • Aries Rising: 1st House of the Self & Perception
  • Taurus Rising: 12th House of Self-Undoing, Hidden Enemies, Hidden Weaknesses, Hidden Talents
  • Gemini Rising: 11th House of Greater Community, Friends, Friend Groups, Social Groups, Technology, Dreams, Humanity

Next, the Sun enters Scorpio on October 23. Scorpio Season is a trip to the underworld, the exploration of the hidden and the taboo. Scorpio is a fixed, feminine water sign ruled traditionally by Mars and modernly by Pluto. Scorpio Season is a time to dive into the dark feminine archetypes, to research the unimaginable and uncomfortable. It’s a time to open up to deeper levels of intimacy, even soul bonding. It may come at a perfect time to indulge in joint ventures, such as contracts or financial obligations. Scorpio Season’s goal is to destroy then transform, to divulge into the darkest parts of the self to bring into consciousness.

Since this Martian transit is powerful and radical, its rage can massively transform a relationship or situation. It may be a sort of death then rebirth. Mars in Scorpio not only has the power to destroy but also to transform. Use Mar in Scorpio’s power wisely! Finally, sex is like the creme de la creme when Mars is transiting in Scorpio. Sex, sexual attraction, and sexual chemistry could also be used in either a lower vibrational or higher vibrational manner. If operating in a lower sexual vibration, Mars in Scorpio uses sensuality as its number one weapon. Sex becomes a tool to manipulate, entice, and hurt. It can be used to entrap someone into a level of intimacy that they may not be ready to engage in. Sex could also be used as a deterrent from genuine vulnerability. However, Mars in Scorpio can use sex to reach a deeper level of intrinsic transformation. Sex can be used to deepen a relationship, as Mars in Scorpio understands how sex is a form of higher intimacy.
